This certification also helps to ensure the prints are odourless, making them perfect for the same sensitive environments – no nasty smells during printing, which is good for our production team, and no nasty smells on the finished product after installation, which is good for you.

Commitment to Sustainability

It’s also important to think about the composition and production of the materials themselves, whether they were sourced in a sustainable way or if they are made from recycled materials.
It’s not just about using recycled materials, it’s about how we source those materials. For example, Wood-based products are considered renewable and eco-friendly, but they should meet standards to be considered PEFC or FSC certified and sustainable. This considers the production of the material, not just the material itself. With industry criteria to manage these materials, you can be reassured that they are ‘verified’ and confidently use these materials.
PVC is a go-to for many signs. In recent years, however, this has come under scrutiny because it’s not easy to recycle and usually used for short-lived campaigns before being disposed of. There’s good news though… there are now materials that can do the job of traditional PVC in a more sustainable way. The push for sustainable materials has improved the products and the innovation that is being used in the industry.
At Graphic Signs, one of the alternative materials we use consists of an outer rigid PVC sheet that is reinforced with a black recycled core. The material is stronger and more rigid than common PVC sheets – the production process leaves a hard, smooth, bright white service that is extremely scratch resistant and easy to keep clean. The recycled foam core makes up 80% of the weight of the product. Another reason this material is so flexible in design and use is its versatility, it pairs well with other materials, creating a clean finish to the final signs. The flat side of the material is ideal for printing. The material is long-lasting and offers a great branding space for your marketing campaigns and events.
Not only is this made from recycled materials, but it is also more durable than previous PVC sheets and lightweight. This means that the lifespan of the sign is longer, making it more sustainable, and it will need to be replaced less often or can be reused for a series of events.
On top of all this, it is also completely recyclable; you could be creating a sign that’s already made from recycled material that can be recycled again and again making the life of the retail display cyclical and very sustainable.
